Yellowstone National Park is home to the largest concentration of mammals in the lower 48 states, including its “Big Five”: bison, elk, moose, grizzly bears, and wolves. Visitors can also spot other animals such as pronghorn, bighorn sheep, black bears, mountain lions, coyotes, beavers, and a wide variety of birds like bald eagles and trumpeter swans. The best times and locations for viewing wildlife depend on the season, with early mornings and evenings being ideal viewing times, especially in areas like Lamar and Hayden Valleys.
